I have been a guiding force in transforming the lives of those impacted by Alzheimer's and dementia. With a Master's degree from the University of Incarnate Word and further studies at Our Lady of the Lake University, my dedication to education has woven a path of continuous learning and empathy. While I initially impacted lives as an educator, my journey took a pivotal turn when health challenges of my own opened a new chapter. I faced gestational diabetes and a thyroid condition, yet grew stronger through fitness and dedication—a journey not just for myself but as an inspiration for others to live healthier, more fulfilling lives.
Teaching GED programs at the Bexar County Detention Center revealed my belief in the transformational power of education. But it’s in the field of fitness where I found my calling to empower others. As a certified fitness professional, I’ve inspired community members to prioritize wellness, much like my journey into bodybuilding and working with legends such as Brian Dobson and Ronnie Coleman helped define the path. These experiences mirror my work with the Annie Ruth Statham I Care Memory Organization, where I focus on the transformative impact of memory care programs.
Creating dance therapy and movement-based activities has helped countless seniors engage both physically and mentally, indirectly strengthening social connections. By championing these innovative programs, I place emphasis on fostering empowering environments, where movement acts as remembrance and healing. I’ve made it my mission to offer these compassionate solutions, not just in a clinical sense but through heartfelt connections, reshaping memory care communities to thrive with dignity and purpose.
